ARE YOU NEW TO PAPER CRAFTING?
If you are not sure what you need to get you started, let me suggest some of my favorite beginner products.
Paper and envelopes. There is nothing easier than a pack of Basic White Notecards and Envelopes.
There are assortment packs of Designer Series Paper (four basic designs in ten colors). You can pick your favorite color palette - brights, neutrals, regals or subtles. The designs are basic enough to be versatile.
Cutting tools. A good pair of paper snips and a paper trimmer are recommended. The Stampin' Up! paper trimmer includes a paper scoring feature that is perfect for making folding lines.
Ink. A Momento Black Ink pad is a basic necessity.
Choose a stamp set with a variety of sentiments and images that appeal to you. You can never have enough good sentiment sets. The Layering Leaves stamp set is one such stamp set. Add the Bough Punch to easily cut a leaf image that is very versatile. Punches are easier and less expensive than a Stampin', Cut & Emboss machine so they are a good way to start. A circle punch will give you a basic shape that you will always be glad you have.
Clear blocks. The size D block will accommodate most stamps. However, stamping is easiest with a block that is closest in size to your stamp, so you might want to consider other sizes as well.
Nothing beats the simplicity of the Simply Shammy for cleaning stamps.
Adhesives are a basic necessity. The Multipurpose Liquid Glue is my adhesive of choice. Other people prefer a tape runner. Stampin' Up! carries those as well.
There are some simple ways to step up your card. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to give your card dimension. The large dimensionals can be cut if you need smaller ones. Some people never make a card without using Stampin Dimensionals.
The Rhinestone Basic Jewels are neutral and give a bit of shine to almost any card. There are many beautiful embellishments to choose from, but the Rhinestone Basic Jewels go with almost anything and are a good place to start. If you have alcohol markers such as Stampin' Blends you can even change their color!
The Baker's Twine Essentials Pack or Linen Thread are also neutral and work for both masculine and feminine cards. Although Stampin' Up! has many beautiful ribbons, the twine and thread are perennial, and you'll never be sorry you have them in your stash. The white twine can easily be changed to another color with a marker. A simple bow can be added to a card in no time with a Mini Glue Dot.
